Sod replacement quote for three soccer fields

Acme Lawn & Turf is a made-up business, but everything in this report is real output: the shapes were drawn on satellite imagery in Satellite Area, and the report builder added the measurements, Google terrain data, the priced estimate and the written summary. Nothing below was edited by hand except the notes and photos.

Observations and recommendations

  • Walk all three fields before stripping to mark depressions, worn goalmouth areas, irrigation components and any drainage outlets that need protection during grading.
  • Fine-grade the West field to preserve its fall toward SE; check the steepest part at 1.2% for loose soil, washout potential and even sod-to-soil contact.
  • Fine-grade the Center field to preserve its fall toward SE. Its average slope is 0.5%, so minor low spots or soft areas should be corrected before sod is installed to avoid standing water.
  • Fine-grade the East field to preserve its fall toward S; inspect the steepest part at 1.3% and verify that topsoil placement does not create a dam or redirect runoff onto playing areas.
  • Coordinate 3 loads of sod delivery with the installation crew so pallets are placed close to the work area and sod is laid promptly. Keep delivery routes away from freshly prepared or newly sodded ground where possible.
  • Confirm irrigation coverage and operating condition before sod placement. Water newly laid sod consistently, with extra attention to higher ground and drainage edges, while avoiding ponding in corrected low areas.
  • Keep field traffic, equipment and play off the new sod during establishment. Limit access around field perimeters and avoid turning equipment on newly graded or newly sodded surfaces.

Notes

Sod is Tifway 419 Bermuda, cut the morning of delivery and laid within 24 hours.

Labor covers stripping the old turf, leveling with a 1 inch topsoil blend, laying, rolling and the first watering.

Fields stay closed for about three weeks while the roots take. We will leave a watering schedule with the grounds crew.

Goal lines and corners get extra rolling, since those areas take the most wear.
